As school districts and organizations increasingly recruit leaders of color, retention remains a significant challenge. Many have recognized the need for culturally affirming coaching and mentorship to support their new administrators and leaders.
Dr. Mayra Gómez, an educational leader with over 20 years of experience in education and community engagement, is passionate about empowering administrators to uplift and support marginalized and at-promise youth. She takes pride in offering a holistic approach to training and retaining leaders of color.
Dr. Gómez obtained a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy and a Bachelor of Art in Sociology from the University of Oregon. She went on to pursue her Masters degree in Urban Education at the University of California-Los Angeles. She began her teaching career as a social studies teacher in Los Angeles Unified School District in California. She earned a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum Development from Lewis & Clark College.
